1 link-Green resource center-Urban gardening: Through the Giving Garden urban gardening & nature therapy initiative we aim to improve the local environment by promoting the significance of gardens in urban areas, particularly within residential zones. Ultimately the long-term goal for FoE Malta is to create a network of community gardens as shared spaces, spread across the country, that are easily accessible by public transport, where the wider community can enjoy nature. Within the context of the high urban density fabric of the Maltese Islands, these community gardens are also expected to support efforts towards enhanced social cohesion.

They can be a beneficial addition to many communities by increasing the availability of nutritious foods, strengthening community ties, reducing environmental hazards, reducing food miles, and creating a more sustainable system. Let us get to work to create your community garden!

With the help of your youth worker come up with a list of the possible authorities that need to be spoken to in order to take over a disused piece of land and turn it into a community garden. Draw a chart with your idea, come up with a slogan and a drawing of your community garden.
